Thunderbird 2?

Asked by Stephen Seplowitz

Since it was released the same day, do you think it would be possible to update the version of thunderbird in the repositories to the 2.0.0.0+ branch sometime soon (before Gutsy comes with it)? thnx

Given it was released the same day, it was a bit late for inclusion and testing in Ubuntu Feisty. It will likely be in Gutsy, and may be backported to Feisty, but there is no guarantee of that.

Now that I think about it in reference to the development cycle and various freeze days etc, it makes sense, so I guess I want to voice my support to have it backported to Feisty.

I'd also like to see it backported rather than having to wait another 6 months.

hopefully this post on the forum (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2523252&postcount=32) should help answer your question. Granted, I'm running it now thanks to the script that is mentioned in that thread, but still, it would be nice to have it available in the repositories. If it ends up being later than sooner and I/we have to wait for Gutsy, then so be it, not the end of the world.
