How to set Gallium3D in use

I have installed ubuntu 10.04 and to enable desktop effects I have to use the nomodeset option.I have installed the gallium3D driver but when I run glxinfo in terminal it shows me that it is still using the classic mesa driver.How do I swich to gallium3D?

Have you considered using Natty? It has a later version of the intel driver and the desktop is EOL at the same time as Lucid's. May help

I have used it but again to run it I have to set the nomodeset option.In ubuntu 10.04 I can set gallium3D in use when I don't set it to nomodeset but then desktop effects are not working.And now when I have set nomodeset I have desktop effects but can't set gallium3D in use.

It uses Gallium3D only when nomodeset is of but then I don't have any effects.

Did you edit xorg.conf?

Then test outputs.
glxinfo | grep OpenGL
glxinfo | grep render

I fixed it.Insted of nomodeset I added to grub "pci=nomsi".
