4.15.0-36-generic ruins kaffeine

Asked by tony archer

upgrade to mint19 with 4.15.0-36-generic completely messed up my kaffeine installation and i cant get kaffeine of any version to run now

it is NOT a tuner hardware problem as the pc is dual boot with Win7 and the TV apps on win7 work just fine

yes i have tried reinstalling the drivers from TBS..its a 6981 dual S2 pcie board but it looks like the kernel has "drivers" already in it as " Dmesg | grep frontend.". reports both tuners registered from the off

so wassup folks?

Mint is not supported by the Ubuntu community in any way. None of the "Ubuntu based" distributions are supported here.

I suggest you post on the Mint forum here:
https://forums.linuxmint.com

Thanks

Doesn't matter. You aren't using Ubuntu.

You aren't using Ubuntu so are not supported here. It's that simple

Linux Mint is "based on Ubuntu".
It takes parts of the software from Ubuntu, but also adds its own packages and modified versions of software.

We know much about Ubuntu, but do not know anything about the Mint additions. This is why we cannot help.

Linux Mint has got its own support channels: see https://www.linuxmint.com/contactus.php

Just a question in an attempt to provide some kind of help: If you say, that the problem started with an upgrade to kernel 4.15.0-36-generic - have you tried booting an older kernel, and does it work there?

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask tony archer for more information if necessary.
