updated linux-restricted-modules not installed with kernel upgrade

Asked by Jamin W. Collins

During the last two sessions of updates, one system has consistently installed the kernel updates but not the associated linux-restricted-modules package required for its video hardware. Manual installation of the linux-restricted-modules package works fine. What would prevent the system from automatically installing the new linux-restricted-modules package?

Hi,

Verify that you have the meta-package « linux-restricted-modules-generic » installed (via Synaptic).
Otherwise, install it.
