Shouldn't linux-current-generic in Precise point to the generic Quantal kernel at this point?

At this point, linux-current-generic in Ubuntu Precise is still a meta-package linux-hwe-generic. However, if I understand the documentation about the different supplied kernels correctly, it should currently actually install linux-generic-lts-quantal as it "will always depend on the latest released generic kernel and headers, up to 14.04 inclusive.". Before submitting a bug, I just want to be sure I understand this documentation correctly.

No the kernels in Precise are different to the one in Quantal. Precise is LTS so there is a LOT more testing before updates are kicked out. LTS releases are rare to have the latest versions of stuff unless there is a very good reason. The in-between releases will push for newer versions but will still be behind as Ubuntu is not a rolling release distro.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Just took a second read of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Release/Rolling and it is actually clearly listed that linux-image-current-<flavor> is updated to the latest kernel and not linux-image-current. So I should have read the documentation better the first time...
