Galaxy Nexus desktop mirroring with samsung HDMI dock

I am using ubuntu phone on my galaxy nexus, together with the 'official' samsung HDMI dock. However the stock android kernel has been stup such that it will only display video via HDMI and otherwise show a drawing of the android robot.
This has been fixed by a minor kernel mod as described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780481

Could this mod be included in the kernel that is shipped with ubuntu touch as well?
