how do I eliminate the guest account in Xubuntu 11.10?

Asked by Ron Meek

Guest account can't be eliminated. tried commenting out passwd, shadow, and (I think) group entries. didn't work. don't want unauthorized users. Also tried userdel -r. What's up with the guest account anyway? even windows starts it disabled mode. . If I want someone to use the system, I'll create a user for them. Perhaps there should be a way to create something like a guest account, but it shouldn'be there by default. Thank you for your assistance.

wonderful. thank you very very much. wish i'd asked earlier. would have saved me a ton of time. strange my original question didn't bring that up, or maybe i just missed it. downloaded and installed vim to do it. and that's a great addition too. again, thanks.
