Ubuntu will not start after 11.10 upgrade

After upgrade from 11.04 ro 11.10, will not start. Can not load network configuration and thereafter jus hangs. 11.04 ran great. gona loose alot of data if this can't be resolve. Tried started last recovery but now success. After the installation of the upgrade, still boots under 11.04.
