PPD driver file doesn't work anymore since update to 18.04

I recently updated from Ubuntu 17.10 to 18.04. Since then, my printer doesn't work anymore. When printing, it warms up, but the display doesn't show anything and no print comes out.

The driver I'm using is this one: https://www.oki.com/de/printing/support/drivers-and-utilities/?id=46293601FZ01&tab=drivers-and-utilities&productCategory=mono-multifunction&sku=44306602&os=ab33&lang=ac5
And the printer is a OKI MB441

But I'm more interested in what changed on Ubuntu/CUPS side that the file doesn't work anymore

If you remove the printer in Ubuntu then power off the printer.

Reboot the system then log back in. When the system settles, power on the printer and reuse the PPD.
