Maybe you are facing the problem described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XenialXerus/ReleaseNotes#Unity_7

Try the command

restart unity-panel-service

I thought it was solved, but no, since each time I boot the computer I have to run the abovementioned command. What would be a permanent fix?

Thank you. I will stand by for a the solution. The interesting thing it that I have installed Ubuntu 16.04 on another computer and I have not had this problem.

It seems to be a race condition (one process not yet fully running while another process already depends on it). Such problems may depend on the specific system, e.g. they appear only on fast computers, or only on slow ones, or only on ones with a slow hard disk, etc.

Can you help with this problem?
