Cannot remove a failed recovery message

Asked by Claus P. Schmidt

Every time I start Libre Office and open a file as first file in the session this recovery message appears. I push start recovery and get the message recovery failed. Having pushed continue I get the document I wanted and can continue with my work. I tried to get rid of this message, I even erased the original document to which the message referred - of no avail. Help (German) does not even list recovery of documents (Dokumentwiederherstellung). What can I do to remove the message?

try closing all office apps then run:

mv ~/.libreoffice ~/.libreoffice_old

Then rerun the app, should help. Make sure you have saved all the office apps you need.

A better solution seems to be to simply press 'escape' at the Recovery window. It asks if you want to cancel the recovery, and stops asking you about the file in question. This will avoid losing your personal settings for LO like keyboard settings, document templates, or whatever.

FWIW this problem arises from attempting to restore a file that was present when LibreOffice/OpenOffice crashed, but which is no longer present. It's easy to reproduce the behaviour by opening a file using LO, then manually killing 'soffice.bin', then moving away the file in question, then launching LO again.

The escape route works well. Could do with being written somewhere on the recovery page to make this obvious.

Update a wiki or post on the forums etc, hopefully this page will also be found by people searching for guides.

Pushing the "Cancel" button instead of the "Start Recovery" button also works to clear the pending recovery action.

Can you help with this problem?
