libreoffice availability in ubuntu

Asked by Steve Dupuis

Is there a PPA for the Libreoffice software? The Libreoffice web site has an update, and I was wondering if it was available via Ubuntu update ...

Hi,

There seems to be a LibreOffice PPA at https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ppa

Someone appears to have written instructions for enabling the PPA at http://www.webupd8.org/2011/01/install-libreoffice-in-ubuntu-from.html. I have not tested those instructions myself so I can't vouch for their correctness, but they seem to make sense.

Hi Steve. YES, there is a PPA. It is 'ppa:libreoffice/ppa'. You can add it by typing 'sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa' in a Terminal. Then 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install libreoffice'.

I hope this helps.

Thanks very much ...

I'm embarresed to admit that this information is on the Home page of Launchpad.
When I was searching, I ended up on another page, which didn't have what I wanted/
I clicked on the Home page and lo and behold the general PPA information was there.

In any case I added the repository and installed the software. Its much faster now.
Keep up the good work!

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install libreoffice-gnome libreoffice-pdfimport libreoffice-presentation-minimizer libreoffice-presenter-console libreoffice-report-builder-bin mozilla-libreoffice language-support-en
