outdated file (no update available for Xenial)

Asked by 'B'huck'ta

It seems that the latest version of the file libidl0 does not install on Xenial (Linux Mint 18). Comes up with unmet dependencies, but the dependencies are all up to date, it seems, saying that there's a later version installed. But not so with libidl0 which is not installed and cannot be installed. Shame as that's the only thing stopping it from installing Kompozer (from the deb). Can someone please help with this. Am having to run the Windows version of Kompozer in Wine, but would rather use the native Linux Kompozer. Seems that libidl0 needs to be updated, and hasn't been yet. Kind regards...

Linux Mint is not supported here or in any of the Ubuntu support channels. None of the "Ubuntu based" distributions are supported by the Ubuntu community. Mint has its own community.
I suggest you post on the Mint forum here:
https://forums.linuxmint.com

This is exactly the same for Ubuntu. Ubuntu is based on Debian unstable. If you ask for Ubuntu support in Debian forums then you will be pointed to an Ubuntu forum.

Hi!

I posted it there because that's where the download is, and the
outdated file. Someone needs to update it for Xenial...

The LTS releases often have older versions of packages because stability is champion over newer versions.

Ok. But Kompozer won't install on Xenial unless that file is updated
(it's not installed and won't install using the current version). Can
use Kompozer for Windows using Wine but jusst thought to mention that
Kompozer won't work on Xenial because of this outdated file...

1. As already told, Linux Mint is not supported here

2. Ubuntu Xenial provides libidl-2-0 as replacement for libidl0
You already have this package installed, so there should not be any need for libidl0.

3. Kompozer is obsolete and not provided for Ubuntu Xenial any more, see Bug #1065547

Can you help with this problem?
