May Ubuntu 18.04 and later use Noto Serif CJK for substituting Simsun (simplified Chinese) and MingLiu (traditional Chinese), instead of using AR PL UMing?

Adobe and Google has released Noto Serif CJK in April 2017. The multi-weight design and elegant shapes make them be much better in appearance than the AR PL UMing fonts, and the Noto Serif CJK can even beat the SimSun and MingLiu used in Windows for simplified and traditional Chinese, respectively.
So may Ubuntu 18.04 and future versions use Noto Serif CJK for the first-hand substitutions of Chinese Mingti style typefaces?
