krb5-user package went away during upgrade from 10.04LTS to 12.04LTS

Asked by Raubvogel

This a test VM which I took a snapshot before attempting to upgrade, so it is not a pressing issue.

I have a 10.04LTS host which is a kerberos/ldap client and which I want to go to 12.04LTS (an dtest how the upgrade procedure goes). I am using the default configuration in /etc/apt/sources.list. Since technically 12.04.1 was not out, I did

do-release-upgrade -d

In the /var/log/apt/term.log log file I found the following entries refering to krb5-user:

Log started: 2012-08-23 11:37:45
Preparing to replace krb5-user 1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.10 (using .../krb5-user_1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.11_amd64.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement krb5-user ...
[...]
Setting up krb5-user (1.8.1+dfsg-2ubuntu0.11) ...
[...]
Log ended: 2012-08-23 11:39:04

I did not see any mention of going to 1.10+dfsg~beta1-2ubuntu0.3; is that to be expected?

What was not expected is doing dpkg --get-selections|grep krb5-user results in nothing:

raub@www:~$ dpkg --get-selections|grep krb5-user
raub@www:~$

Was krb5-user removed from my machine?
