activating two connections simultaneously

I'm trying to connect my laptop to PC via ethernet, at least to access files on PC. PC has now two ethernet controllers: eth0 (built-in, Internet connection) and eth2 (hey, when I had just installed it, it was calling eth1, but after rebooting KNetworkManager identified it as eth2, and that's another bug :) )

and now, when I look at menu of KNetworkManager, it seems that just one connection can be activated at the moment, clicking on another connection does not activate it, but toggles current

is it a bug or a feature :) and how can I handle it ?

I guess is both a bug and a feature, depending on how you look at it. (k)network-manager will strive to maintain one active conneciton at all times, and it is geared for the end-user (i.e., sort of "casual" user), with zero or near to zero expertise on networks.

If you indeed need both interfaces to be up at the same time, then you certainly do not fit the profile for n-m. In this case forego the use of n-m, and manually configure your network.
