Documentation

Asked by Wayno

I am trying to run k9copy on ubuntu 8.10 (amd 64)

There are no directions on how to use the programme, either on this site, or as part of the programme itself -- when I click on help within the programme I get: The file or folder help:/k9copy/index.html does not exist. Sure enough - the file does NOT exist.

Sorry but the programme is NOT intuitive enough for me to figure out - I need some documentation on how to use it. I am used to windows programmes dvdshrink and dvd decrypter.

It doesn't seem that there are any documentation for this application.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/K9Copy - how to install and start the application (but you have already passed this stage)
http://k9copy.sourceforge.net/ - homepage of k9copy

My suggestion is to contact the maker of k9copy and maybe get involved in project by making some documentation.

Wayno you can also look at the manpage for k9copy, although it only provides some options when launching it from command line:
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/intrepid/en/man1/k9copy.html

Meawwhile If you had a specific question about k9copy, please open a new one, perhaps someone can help if you're specific about what you wanted.

I just want to copy a dvd, produce the restultiong video_ts folder, and then burn it -- which is exactly what dvd shrink and dvd extracter do, under windows --

No title set menus, no transcoding options, no clipping options, just copy the disc as is, and then burn a dvd copy of it -- there are so many options, and

I tried to copy the entire dvd, and it wantes 60G of storage! Wait! it's only a 4.7G DVD to begin with!

I don't understand the buttons "extract to mpeg" "extract to mpeg-4" and copy.

What I need is okay want to copy a DVD.

1. Insert DVD.

2. Fire up K9Copy.

3. Choose these items, step by step.

4. What options do I need, and in what order

5. Where the resulting video_ts folder is stored so I can burn it>

You know, basic simple step by step programme documentation for non-intuitive, non-documented programmes.

I have 2+ years of SuSE behind me, and just a few weeks of ubuntu. I just need basic assistance here. "man" doesn't tell me the steps necessary to successfully copy a dvd, from start to finish.

I recommend you to use K3b for such a simple duplication process.

Unfortunately I do not have the powers to change the state of this question to SOLVED, EXPIRED or INVALID. Someone here at Launchpad either grant me that permission or simply apply the change in state to this question, please.

Can you help with this problem?
