why isn't hplip deb file up-to-date?
I have 20.04 installed.
To the best of my knowledge hplip 3.20.3 was installed with it, by default.
I got a new HP Deskjet 2742e printer a few months ago, which I've finally installed.
According to the HP web site the minimum hplip for this printer is 3.20.5.
So the hplip installed WILL NOT WORK, and as it turns out is only partially effective. i.e. It will print only 1 page (possibly a job) and then is "Idle - The printer is not responding." After which it can't be used at all. Also the scanner is not detected by 'Simple Scan.'
Why hasn't the archive been up dated? It seems that every version of hplip since 2.8.6.b-3 is available as tarballs.
I thought the whole point of Ubuntu was that the user would not have to concern themselves with finding and updating all the dependencies in order to upgrade a package!
