Printer does not work after Ubuntu 10.10 is updated

Asked by BillyZ

My HP Deskjet D2660 prints with a new install of Ubuntu 10.10, but after updating the printer no longer prints. The print manager says the printing status is Completed, but nothing is ever sent to the printer. Is there a fix other than duel booting into a fresh install?

I installed an old copy of Ubuntu 9.10 as a dual-boot. I boot there if I need to print something. After over 6 hours of installing, uninstalling, reinstalling, troubleshooting, installing C++ and others, Ubuntu 10.10 cannot print. Perhaps Ubuntu 11.04 will be able to print. Untill then, I will dual boot into Ubuntu 9.10 to print.
