Scanning app does not dectect plugged in and powered on scanner.

Asked by Jim Scudder

Canon Canoscan 5600F.
Not detected in Ubuntu 10.... and now not detected in 11.04 either.
Tried unplugging USB connector and plugging back in. Power On, and power off.
Ideas?

Ummm...I am brand new to Ubuntu. Is that a command line I type into a
window somewhere?
Some more specific instructions are needed here for this newbie.

run the command (It is a lowercase LSUSB)
Press ENTER

OK, powered on. It looks like it is there on Bus 001 Device 004
I tried Simple Scan again, but got the message "No Scanner Detected".
