Short URL Expansion

Is it possible to expand a short URL from twitter, for example, into a long URL with gwibber?
This is available in several twitter plugins.

If not, could it be implemented? I think it's useful to know where you are being redirected.

That's actually a good idea. There are ongoing bug reports (wishlist) that suggests to have this feature in Gwibber like bug #420981 and bug #384223 which I linked to this question.
