KATE editor slow with gvfs

Hello,
I'm using gvfs and I'd love to re-use KATE with it. Since Ubuntu Meerkat, KATE responds horribly slow to any activity, including simple typing. Using gedit is much faster and particularily only slows down when saving the file; a process which is nonetheless much faster than with advanced editors.

I think the problem is somehow gvfs related, maybe you agree?
