gthumb command line options are not taken.

Asked by m-graham

I want to start in slideshow mode so that system will act like a digital pictureframe when started up, but I can't get gthumb to start in slideshow mode even with the -s option, in fact none of the simple options seem to work for me.

Thanks for your question.

Works just fine here, using Ubuntu Feisty. Which version do you use?

I'm using Dapper. I'm on an old machine, and I can't load Feisty because it doesn't have sufficient memory to run live. With Dapper, you could do the install directly without having to run live - and it works fine after being installed with no memory porblems. I wish Feisty could be installed directly as well, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. I've got gthumb 2.7.6. Any suggestions as to how I can update, or perhaps revert to a previous version of gthumb, to regain this functionality?

Good news: You *are* able to use a text based installer.

1) Open http://www.ubuntu.com/GetUbuntu/download
2) Check "Check here if you need the alternate desktop CD. This CD does not include the Live CD, instead it uses a text-based installer."
3) Download, install, run :-)

Can you help with this problem?
