Wubi installed Ubuntu; Grub boots issue after windows disk check (Ubuntu 12)

What are the messages? Why did you not add them to your post?

I couldn't screenshot it, haha! I found a pic on Google of what it is: http://members.iinet.net.au/~herman546/p15/fig2grub.gif (I can't remember my version. I'm assuming it's the latest since I've installed Ubuntu 2 weeks ago.)

But why did you only say "I'm getting some Grub messages" but not actually give the messages (or a paraphrase of them)?

Because i figured it was a rather basic window i guess. We could ramble about it for another hour or so; But i'd rather admit my mistake and search for an answer :-)

In future please give as many details as you can. Have you chkdsk'd your NTFS partition?

I believe the Windows checkdisk checks everything. So I'm assuming it did. Nonetheless I'm not really the ICT wizard here. Just not a fan of Windows when web-programming.

Edit: I just noticed that my c:/ubuntu/disk/boot/grub folder (in Windows 7) is empty. I don't know if that helps? Oh, and to specify my previous answer: I did not cancel the chckdisk!

Please install Ubuntu in a separated partition (dual boot mode) not using Wubi... installing Ubuntu inside Windows cause trouble like this...

I never installed Ubuntu using Wubi.

Okay, but can i save what i have on my Ubuntu than? I've got one folder i don't really like to lose on my Ubuntu desktop :-)

why do you not have a backup?

Because it barely ran for 2 weeks :-p I don't backup daily/weekly, haha!

If you boot to liveCD and then mount your NTFS partition, you can loop mount the wubi root.disk file and access your data.

I strongly advise you revise your backup strategy. It is clearly not appropriate.

I'm having the exact same problem. Meaning my ubuntu 12.10 is installed under the WINDOWS 7. I did run a DISK CHECK (while operating in the WINDOWS env) on the drive that contains UBUNTU (WUBI). And then when I switch to UBUNTU at boot time, I only get the MINIMUM BASH GRUB command prompt. Below are the ChkDsk results from the WINDOWS:
Chkdsk was executed in read/write mode. (I believe that some important indexing have been removed). To solve this, I believe one has to be an UBUNTU Linux expert at the operating system level and someone who knows the details of the WUBI installations under the WINDOWS.
