I have tried to use Ubuntu on many computers and it always says unable to find a medium containing a live file system.

Asked by victorclesi

I ordered the Ubuntu CD from the website.
I put the CD in and restart the computer.
I have to hit F12 and choose the boot option boot from the cd drive.
It then opens up a purple screen and then goes to a screen to choose language.
I choose english then it goes to an option screen and I choose the first option not to install run from CD I believe.
Another purple screen opens and a few dots light sequentially till a black screen appears saying Unable to find medium
Same behavior with USB key made of ISO image in a USB key.
Same behavior with seven other computers desktop and laptop

I ordered the Ubuntu cd from the website. I have had help from many people and non of their advice works. I decided to try other computers desktop and laptop all new dual core machines. They get the same message uable to find a medium...., Is there someone that has had his problem and found a remedy. 7 different computer can't all be goofed up. A month and a half of advice and no solution.

When you see the stickman screen, press SPACEBAR and select "Check CD for defects" is it ok?

I saw the stickman hit the space bar and the select language screen came up. I selected english and the option screen came up. I scrolled down to check disc for errors and a black blank screen came up for a few seconds and then the purple screen with the dots started again and back to unable to find medium...., It didn't tell me anything about the disc.

You have used 7 different computers . Have you continued to use the same live cd to boot from on each of these ? if so you need to find other sources for medium which there are several.

I read again and I can only see on issue with a bad CD.
Maverick 10.10 will be released Sunday.
Best is to download an ISO image of this latest release and to try to install it.

Can you help with this problem?
