Ubuntu installation hangs at prepare partition step

I am new to linux and observing problem in installing Ubuntu 8.04. It hangs at the prepare partition step. The slot is completely blank and shows no listings. Moreover, no button works..Please HELP..!!

P.S. I've triaed the "dmraid" thing but to no help...

8.04 is quite old. If you are installing a server I recommend 12.04. If it is a desktop OS then Hardy is EOL on the desktop.
