Grub freezes

Asked by Dines683

I have dual booted Ubuntustudio 7.10 with windows XP.
Most of the times is works perfect but every now and then the GRUB fails to load.

It just shows me the diffferent OS' i have to choose between(meaning ubuntu and xp) but then it freezes and i have to pres ctrl+alt+del in order to restart and then there the GRUB works fine.

Any ideas of why this happens and how to correct it?

When the system freeze have you tried to press CTRL+ALT+F2 to get a pseudo-tty login
If you can get access to the system please login with your user and password then
try to discover into your system log files some warning or errors.

So type:
tail /var/log/messages

tail /var/log/syslog

dmesg

Hope this help you
