Quick doubt about resizing partitions
So, I want to upgrade to Ubuntu 11.04, but first I want to backup my Ubuntu partition just in case.
For that I need GParted to shrink an old NTFS partition with a lot of free space, create a ext4 partition in the free space, and copy my Ubuntu partition in there.
My questions are:
- Is this wise? Is there an easier way to backup my linux partition?
- Can Gparted do this? Do I need to use the Live CD version? Is there a GParted option to copy the whole contents of a partition to another?
- Will I have problems after resizing my partitions? I remember resizing the swap partition long ago using GParted and then Ubuntu not recognizing it; something related to the partition table; and I had to change a file I don't remember.
