how to resize, increase, partition size without reinstall Ubuntu

I have recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 in my IBM Thinkpad T-60 laptop. Since I'am a beginner and obsessed with Linux I might have made some wrong moves- because I have now only 30 GB HD instead of the 120GB HD. So kindly guide me step by step to reclaim the full HD without installing the Ubuntu again.

what do you mean by reclaim the full hd? do you have windoze on the drive that you want to get rid of?

How to get partition table?

Please provide partition table.

If you can't boot from hard drive, boot en Ubuntu CD/USB stik and then choose "Try without install".

Open a terminal: you can either press Ctrl+Alt+T or Applications->Accessories->Terminal.

To copy/paste in a terminal, replace Ctrl+C by Ctrl+Shift+C and Ctrl+V by Ctrl+Shift+V (for historical reason, Ctrl+C is assigned another function).

Paste to terminal the following commands:

    sudo fdisk -l

where "-l" is lower case "L".

Copy/paste result into a new thread post.

While installing the ubuntu 10.10 I got only the 30 GB out of my 120 GB HD. May be while installing I might have only chosen the 30 GB partition of my HD. Kindly do help to get my full 120 GB HD without reinstalling the ubuntu.

Boot from install cd and use gparted System→Administration→Partition editor
to resize your Ubuntu partition

you still didn't answer what you have on your hard drive?
do you have windoze on there?
how did you do the installation?
did you do a dual boot installation with windoze?
is your hard drive empty when you installed ubuntu?
