dual operating systems and dividing disk space

Asked by Keith M Bender

I have dual operating systems on my computer. LINUX and Windows. The tech who set the computer up for me gave more disk space to the LINUX OS. I want to even the disk space out between the 2 operating systems. I honestly have no idea where to start. In LINUX, I opened Disk & Filesystems - System Settings. Is this where I may accomplish my task? Any guidance would be appreciated, thank you.

Well the 'best' option is to use some of your /var directory and use something like Partition Magic to change it to an NTFS drive, and then Windows can see it.

Google and see what tools there are to partition disks...

If you want to resize partition, download a ISO image of Ubuntu and make a CD/USB stick, then boot on it, and choose "Try" instead of install. Then run System->Administration->Gparted and resize partition. You need to boot on a bootable CD, as you can't resize a partition if OS is still using it.

Can you help with this problem?
