Partioning stopped mid way, Now what?

Asked by Jeroen Pater

I was partitioning my 160GB drive in 2 parts.
Somewhere 10 minutes I had a power-cut.

When I restarted the PC, I could obviously not access the hard drive and Ubuntu wouldn't start up.

Luckily I still had a USB stick with Ubuntu on it so at least I can use the TRY version.
It's a PC with ONLY Ubuntu on it.

I DO have a Windows 7 DVD....

What's the best thing I can do? How can I finish the partitioning or how can I just clear the whole harddrive so I can start all over again?

You have to redo partitioning from start.

Unless you have valuable data on the drive (which would be a very bad thing, considering what has happened), the best solution is definitely to delete all the partitions and start over. After booting from the Ubuntu Desktop Install CD and clicking Try Ubuntu, you can use GParted to do this (System > Administration > GParted Partition Editor).

Can you help with this problem?
