Problems with auto-update to Ubuntu 10.04

Asked by hdeasy

Main pain in the ***** is that MS Paint, that I imported painstakingly into Ubuntu 9.?, and that
worked in that version when I clicked on the exe, now fails miserably with some error about not finding it in the archive.

Other problem: handy volume control no longer appears beside the on-line connectedness symbol in the upper screen header.

There are probably more - I hope this version isn't as crap as it started out.

you can install (and remove installed applications) from menu Applications→Ubuntu Software Center

So please simply search gpaint to install it

The quick way to install and remove software is to use the terminal...

Then please open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gpaint

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

You will find gpaint under menu Applications→Graphics→Gnu Paint

In the same way if you want a more complete graphic software install gimp

Additionally, if you are new to Ubuntu, i recommend reading through the Ubuntu Manual, it's very informative:

http://ubuntu-manual.org/

Click on the "download Button" to download the latest PDF version.

Thank you - that worked very well from the terminal. Gpaint has the right look and feel for me.
