about dictionary

hi
   I am new user of ubuntu and I am using 8.10 version. i am having by default dictionary 2.24.1 in my sys.but i m not able to use that dictionary. pls suggest any idea or suggest and other dictionary.

Hi, I havent use that. try stardict http://stardict.sourceforge.net/download.php.

You need to install some dictionaries. http://stardict.sourceforge.net/Dictionaries_dictd-www.dict.org.php

Download the tarball dictionary and untar them

right click on it, select 'extract here'. then open the terminal and go into the extracted contents, then type:

sudo cp * /usr/share/stardict/dic
