dictionary look up not working

hello friends,
i hav recently installed ubuntu in my system
the problem i am facing now is with dictionary look up
it's not working
should i need to install some code
(i am using it offline)
suggest me any solution

The dictionary app requires a network connection, since it performs its lookups by requesting definitions from a dictionary server. If you want to use it while offline, there's a HOWTO here:

In short, if you download one or more dictionaries, and run a dictionary server on your own computer, you can use the dictionary app even when you're not connected to the internet.
