can't add or remove application because dpkg was interrupted and _cache->open

i was asked to report a problem because cashe -open() failed and dpkg was interrupted

try:

sudo apt-get clean; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get -f install; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

hey for me it says this on my program :Failed to check for installed and available applications

This is a major failure of your software management system. Please check for broken packages with synaptic, check the file permissions and correctness of the file '/etc/apt/sources.list' and reload the software information with: 'sudo apt-get update' and 'sudo apt-get install -f'.

well its given you 2 commands to execute in the error output. Did you try those?

Can you please run:

gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

and give us the content of the file as an update.
