Asked by Edmond Condillac

I'm wish to use Eclipse to help with learning Java programming. I have downloaded eclipse-SDK-4.2.1-linux-gtk.tar.gz and extracted it but cannot get it to start using it for learning java programming. I would most highly appreciate your kind help and advise.
The version of Java on my computer is:
java version "1.7.0_09"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.3.3) (7u9-2.3.3-0ubuntu1~12.10.1)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 23.2-b09, mixed mode, sharing)

Thank you very much.
