Error installing ypops on Ubuntu 12.04

Asked by lrs52200

I am trying to install ypops using the information as found here: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/free-pop3-and-smtp-access-to-yahoo-mail-using-ypops-in-ubuntu.html#more-424

I am able to perform up to and including step #2 ("....add the following line.......save and exit the file....") and then when I try the next step ("Add the pgp......") this is what the terminal responds with:

 $ wget http://tskariah.000webhost.com/t_skariah.asc.gpg

HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found
2012-06-08 06:27:27 ERROR 404: Not Found.

I can proceed no further. Can anyone help?

In the alternative, if anyone can suggest another way of accomplishing what I want I'd be only too happy to following those instructions. I have a personal folder on my yahoo account that contains over 2,000 emails that I need to download to my desktop computer as a whole, since downloading each one separately would take far too much time. I was told that ypops would allow me to do that.

Hi there,

You can't get this package with wget because this page has gone and does not exists anymore. If you want to install it try using this command instead of this which you use it: wget -O t_skariah.asc.gpg 'http://tskariah.net78.net/t_skariah.asc.gpg'

If you still experience problems I include you url link bellow to the site where you have everything explained how to install ypop on your computer. It's for Ubuntu version 9.10, but should work in 12.04 also.

Link to installation of ypop: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/how-do-i-install-ypop-on-ubuntu-9-04-a-747793/

If this helps you solved your question, please mark this thread as solved.

Regards,
Miha

The link explained that the package is no longer available and one person indicated that there may be a trojan associated with the file anyway.
