Installing Seagate free Agent Portable hard drive

Asked by Benjamin Martin

I purchased a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex portable hard drive, and when I try to run the setup/exu it will not allow me to. It says' The file '/media/FreeAgent GoFlex Drive/Setup.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit'. I tried changing permissions but I just can't figure it out.

You don't need that app. The CD is for Windows. Ubuntu is not WIndows, it is a distribution of Linux. If you connect the drive does it detect ok?

What ended up happening was that after I posted the question, I was able to back up my files and everything was good. Then when i connected the drive to my other laptop also running Ubuntu 10.10, I by mistake formated the drive erasing everything. Now when I tried to save something onto the drive it says "The specified location is not supported". I tried changing the permissions and I am getting no where fast.
