How to enable 'minimize on click'?

When I click on the application icon in the dock, the application should minimize itself.

lsb_release -a; uname -a

Please? Also, which desktop environment are you using?

Thank you very much, this solves the question. You can set the setting in the terminal using the following command:

gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock click-action minimize-or-overview

Reset it to its original value:

gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock click-action previews
