Opening lid after suspend in Karmic will suspend again

Asked by Frank Niedermann

Hi,

I suspend my Dell XPC m1330 laptop by closing the lid which works fine.

Afterwards I open the lid again which resumes Ubuntu but it suspends again immediately (without me having closed the lid, it's still open). I have to wait until Ubuntu has suspended again and then I can resume normally by pressing the power button.

This problem came up with Karmic Koala (new installation), it worked fine with 9.04.

Is this a known issue? Should I report a bug?

Frank

Hi Frank.

It is a known Issue. It actually happens when you plug or remove the power cord after suspending. At least that is the most common thing.

I think it is bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/425411

There is another bug related to it: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/417842

See if you can add something to the bug report.

Cheers.

G.

There is a Fix by Kenneth Hsu:

"Run gconf-editor and go to

/ --> apps --> gnome-power-manager --> actions

and uncheck the box labeled "event_when_closed_battery"."
