Are you requesting that these patches be applied to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu and an update be release (i.e., are you trying to report a bug / request a feature)? Or are you asking if it possible for you, as a user, to apply the patches to gnome-power-manager source on your machine, and build and install from source, without bonobo? Or are you asking specifically *how* to build gnome-power-manager with those patches and install it without bonobo?

In that case, you'll want to file a bug for this against the package gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. In your bug, you should present reasons why you believe it is important that these changes be backported to gnome-power-manager in current Ubuntu releases. You might want to say whether you think the patched versions should be made available in -backports or in -updates (see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports). Before filing your bug report, you should read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs carefully. Then search to see if it's already been reported, and if not, report it (I recommend you initiate this by running "ubuntu-bug gnome-power-manager"--that page will, among other things, explain how that works). You should make sure to include the information you've presented here in the bug report, as well as additional information explaining why getting rid of the bonobo dependency is important. In particular, please make sure to include the links to the two upstream patches that you included here. After you've filed the bug report, you can link it and this question to each other using the "Link existing bug" link near the top of this question page. However, your bug report should be complete and self-contained--it should not be necessary for the Ubuntu developers to refer to this question in order to fully understand and appreciate your bug report.

Since this was an upstream issue (i.e., pertaining to the upstream GNOME sources, rather than always being specific to Debian or Ubuntu), you should also search https://bugzilla.gnome.org for an upstream bug report. (This may have been reported as a bug in gnome-power-manager and then fixed with the patches you linked to.) If you find one, then after reporting your bug here on Launchpad, you can link your downstream bug here on Launchpad to the upstream bug, using the "Also affects project" link on the Launchpad bug page.

Can you help with this problem?
