How to restore bottom and edge panel

Hi, I have accidently deleted the bottom edge panel from Ubuntu 9.10 gnome. can anyone help me to get it back, as I have been struggling to get it back.

Press Ctrl +Alt + F2 make login with your user and password and type:

sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
sudo reboot
