Ubuntu top panel missing everything right of wifi icon; monitor buttons don't help.
Asked by

Everything to the right of wifi icon on my top panel suddenly missing, i.e. wifi icon is now the right boundary of top panel. Left edge OK. Tried monitor buttons for centering, etc., but no good, when I shift panel (and screen) to left, for example, everything moves but missing icons do not reappear. So to shut down, I have to first click System. Remainder of screen seems to be OK. My monitor is a Dell Trinitron. My Linux is the lynx, I think. While trying so self-fix this I wound up with a narrower screen, that is, the area below the top panel, but the top panel still goes completely across. Thank you.
