Can I have any open source domain controller like "Active Directory in Microsoft" for Ubuntu servers?

See action parshnip is correct that you can use samba but i belive your requirement would make you ask ahell lot of question like how wud you mannage policies and all

We have 600 users running under ubuntu based Samba4 AD/DC

and using single xp machine and administrative tools to connect to the same and manage which you usualy do with winservers.
