rt3070usb wifi has low sensitivity
So Ubuntu will not connect to my router unless I am in the same room as Access Point.
Compared to Windows Vista which can connect from anywhere in building no problems,
A comparison was done on dual boot with Vista/UBUNTU Quantal using Same Laptop, Same USB adaptor, Same Antenna, Same physical locations (not moved or re-oriented even a millimeter).
Vista sees 10+ Connectable Acess Points in my building, Ubuntu only connects to this one (My Neighbors AP but it is physically closer than mine in living room) as strong enough. WEP Encryrtion On or OPEN makes no difference in range. We have tried several scenarios.
I have verified that this USBnic is rt3070. But I think UBUNTU insists on using rt2800 drivers. Yes the 2800 drivers do work but they work very poorly.
I downloaded and tried "2011_0719_
But after I build then modprobe says FATAL ERROR rt3070sta not found. So I am stuck with rt2800 drivers?
I hate windows! Don't want to have to swich back.
please help.
