my enable wireless is not highlighted how do i enable wireless on my laptop ? i amusing ununtu 10.04.. and my laptop is a dell latitude D420

The OS is called ubuntu, not ununtu.

Can you give the output of:

sudo lshw -C network; lsb_release -a; uname -a; sudo rfkill list; dmesg | grep -i firm

I use a D420 and everything works out of the box? Do you dual boot?

one more question.....where is the wireless card located in my laptop??? does a black wire and a white wire connect to it?
