DL 100130B Ethernet card works intermittently in Linux

Asked by bccynic

I had to replace the motherboard ethernet card with a used (it's hard to find new wired ethernet cards) D-Link card. When I plugged it in I was sure UBUNTU (10.04) would pick it up, before windows, but it was the opposite. Did not work in Linux so I switched to Windows and managed to get it working consistently, went back to UBUNTU, it worked. When it goes into suspend it stops working. I have to reboot into Windows, go on the net, then reboot back into UBUNTU. What's going on?

Your junky Windows OS is 'holding' the hardware, you have to disable the ability for the hardware to wake up the WIndows OS in device manager, it also helps to disable power management too.

Windows will poison your system this way, its annoying and is the first thing I go for. The sooner people move away from it the better imho (needs allowing)
