3G USB Modem

i have a Micromax 3G USB Modem (model No.-MMX 310G). how i connect internet in ubuntu 10.10. i install xfce4-cellmodem-plugin but nothing is happen

Basically the device is seen as a USB storage device so dumb Windows users can shove it in, the software installs by itself then it gets switched to being a modem. Linux doesn't need the Windows driver so the switch never takes place so you must manually switch it yourself, the guide will help.
