Wireless net work problem
This is an ongoing problem :)
I cannot get a good wifi connection whilst at my workplace whilst others using windows have no problems. I have no problems at home with wifi, just at work.
It is not the fastest connection but I cannot even connect sometimes even sat next to the router !, could it be my network card, or is there something 'Linux' is preventing, as I mentioned my 'windows' colleges have no problems, I can connect via cable as now but this is not convenient & as I work away 2 weeks at a time, I am reluctantly considering moving back to windows :(
Help please
Andy.

Don't start bleating about moving back to windows, it dosn't aid the question and doesn't make anyone want to help you any more or less.
Can you give the output of:
sudo lshw -C network
Thhis will tell us what wireless chip you are using, which you forgot to tell us and is the most important piece of information we need.
Thanks

there could be some things you´ll have to understand as wifi in the workplace:
1. if the workplace filters net traffic or uses a windows 2003+ server for gateway, domain controllers, and other useless windows server services, latency issues happen.
2. if the wifi has been configured or using a transmission protocol that has a higher priority than the one your using. (IPv6 vs. IPv4 or even mixed with SSH(via SSTP), L2TP, PPTP, SSTP.)
not all wifi cards are created equall. (some wifi cards work better on some channels than others)
My recommendation is set up your laptop for dual booting. that away you cal tell if it is a OS/configuration thing or a hardware issue with your wifi network card.

Thanks for both your reply's, but you may as well be speaking Martian, I need a fix not confusion ;(
A duel boot is not an option for two reasons, I am here on a oil platform for 2 weeks and only have limited disc space (Netbook) besides I thought using windows was defeating the object of Linux.
My wifi has worked here in the past & works intermittent now, dropping in and out randomly but most of the time not even loading pages although a connection is indicated and a 'ping' confirms this.
A wired connection works fine from the same server.
Thanks again
Andy.

Subject: Thanks, clears it up.
I grew up in East Texas. Religious knowledge was pretty shit and everyone knew what little they did know was right. Luckily, I was still a Christian when I was in high school.
In college, it gets better. I went to Lamar down in Beaumont and it was definitely more accepting of external viewpoints. We had campus preachers yelling at us from the quad, but we either ignored them or debated them and made them look silly.
I wasn't in your exact shoes when I was in high school, but I was picked on. Grow a tough skin and learn how to use their arguments against them. I had a guy call me "Harry Potter" one day. I just looked at him and said, "So you are comparing me to a fictional character who is described as being mildly handsome, incredibly rich, and extremely powerful? Thank you." Another time someone wanted to fight me outside. "Let's go man! Right now!" My response: "Dude. It's lunchtime. I have no problem fighting you, but right now, I'm hungry. I'm getting lunch. If you want to fight me, you'll have to adjust to my schedule." Remember that you can always just walk away.

I was lucky with mine that I happened to be in the right place at the right time, and got a job, that led to another, that led to another, that led to another. And that hasn't stopped working so far! What I've found and seen is that the ones who succeed aren't the ones who're the best outright. They're the ones who work the hardest. The ones who are constantly working and keeping busy and have the passion to make it work. So that's been the goal and it's worked for me! If you love something enough you'll make it work. Either that or you don't love it as much as you thought you did. But you know, I'm young so I know I don't really know anything!
So what do you do with yourself? Studying where?

Skill order should be 3 points silver bolts and then max Q. Silver bolts is better for lane, but tumble is great once you get your ult for invis procs.
She isn't good in the current meta IMO because she will just get blown up before she can do any damage. Honestly, if she ever gets behind, she doesn't even scale that well. The current meta of caster ADCs/assassins isn't friendly to kiting ADCs like vayne.

Subject: Goddamit, Archer.
I would advise many of the outspoken activists in this thread to consider Robert F. Turner's "how political warfare caused america to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in vietnam" (google it). An excellent essay challenging many assumptions commonly held on this polarizing topic
It's hard to speculate, but probably the most decisive strike against the war was the internal political division happening inside the United states. Not the actual conduct of military operations
