No able to play videos after upgrade 8.0 to 10.0

Ubuntu 8.0 to 10.0 .No video.Sym package installed VLC and MPlayer.Still no video.Help.

Open a terminal (CTRL+ALT+T) and try this

$ sudo apt-get install -y ubuntu-restricted-extras

Keep in mind that Ubuntu 10.04 will be EOL in a few months so , consider to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (support until 2017).
